The messaging platform WhatsApp has been in the news since the beginning of the year 2021 regarding its new privacy policy regarding whatsapp ban.
In the new policy, it has been said that users’ data will be shared with the parent company Facebook, which the users have expressed their displeasure.
The Government of India sent a notice to WhatsApp regarding the policy which came into effect from May 15, in response to this, WhatsApp said that even if the policy is not accepted, users will continue to receive chatting services.

As per the BGR India report, WhatsApp spokesperson said, “We have responded to the letter of the Government of India and assured that the privacy of the users is their first priority.”
WhatsApp has said that the change in the privacy policy will not affect the personal messaging experience of the users and the new policy is intended to provide additional information about how users interact with the business.

WhatsApp has said that users who do not accept the privacy policy will continue to have the option of chatting as before.
Till now the company was only to provide limited functions to those users who would not accept the updated policy.
Spokesperson said, “We will not change the way WhatsApp works and the users will continue to get all the features. However, we will keep reminding users about the frequent updates and they will also be given the necessary optional features.”

“Now users have been given a new option and they can choose whether they want to interact with a business or not. We will keep this attitude at least till the next PDP legislation is introduced,” said Spokesperson.
