This year the ICC T20 World Cup will be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is hosting this event. Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar’s prediction has predicted that the final match of this tournament will be played between India and Pakistan.
The T20 World Cup will begin as soon as the second phase of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 ends. Akhtar believes that like the first edition of the T20 World Cup, India will face Pakistan in the final this year. In the first edition of T20 World Cup in 2007, the title match was held between these two teams, which India won.
The Indian team under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni became the world champion in the T20 format in 2007. Shoaib Akhtar said on the YouTube channel of Sports, ‘I feel that the final match of the T20 World Cup will be played between India and Pakistan. Pakistan will beat India in the final.
UAE conditions suit both India and Pakistan.
India and Pakistan have a win-loss record of 11-0 in the T20 World Cup or 50-over World Cup. Pakistan has never won against India in the World Cup till date. The last match between India and Pakistan was in the 2019 World Cup, where India won by 89 runs using the Duckworth-Lewis method.
The bad relations between the two countries have had an impact on cricket as well. No bilateral series has been played between India and Pakistan since 2012. Matches between India and Pakistan are played only during ICC events. In the 2016 T20 World Cup, India defeated Pakistan by six wickets. India, Pakistan have been placed in the same group for the T20 World Cup. Afghanistan and New Zealand are also in this group. Two other teams will join this group after the qualifying round.
