Jurassic Shop: Giant Monitor Lizard Causes Panic At 7-Eleven Store In Thailand; Sparks Meme-Fest


New Delhi: On Tuesday, a giant monitor lizard walked into a 7-Eleven store in Nakhon Pathom, Thailand sending customers into a frenzy. The video was uploaded on Twitter and has been viewed over 5 million times! It’s said the the lizard emerged from a nearby canal and made its way to the store. It was identified as an Asian water monitor or common water monitor.

In the video, the lizard was seen climbing atop a shelf inside the store but was struggling as there was nothing firm enough to grip onto. After reaching the top the lizard just rests for.

Monitor Lizards are a type of reptile which are native to are native to Africa, Asia, and Oceania. They are carnivorous and feed on smaller reptiles, birds etc. but some do eat fruits and vegetables. Asian water monitor lizards native to South and Southeast Asia. Its binomial name is ‘Varanus salvator’. Adults can grow anywhere between 4.9–6.6 ft long and can weigh up to 50 kgs.
