IPL 2021 – Rituraj Gaikwad’s excellent innings amidst the brilliant bowling of Mumbai Indians, Chennai’s tremendous comeback

In the 30th match of IPL 2021, Chennai Super Kings face Mumbai Indians at the Dubai International Stadium. Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat first and the team scored 156/6 in 20 overs. Rituraj Gaikwad made a tremendous comeback for the team by playing an excellent innings of 88 runs.

Chennai Super Kings had a very poor start and they got three big blows in the first three overs and along with Ambati Rayudu also retired hurt without opening the account and returned to the pavilion. Faf du Plessis and Moeen Ali were dismissed without opening the account, while Suresh Raina was also dismissed after scoring just 4 runs. In the sixth over, captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was also dismissed after scoring just 3 runs and after the powerplay, the score of Chennai Super Kings was 24/4.

From here, Rituraj Gaikwad along with Ravindra Jadeja took over the team and shared 81 runs for the fifth wicket. In the 12th over, Chennai crossed the 50 mark and reached the score of 100 in the 17th over, but in the same over Ravindra Jadeja was dismissed for 26 runs in 33 balls. Rituraj Gaikwad completed his fifty in 41 balls and played a brilliant innings of 88 runs in 58 balls with the help of 9 fours and 4 sixes.

Dwayne Bravo played a scintillating innings of 23 runs in 8 balls and contributed significantly in taking the team past 150. Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult and Adam Milne took two wickets each for Mumbai Indians.
