Dhawan needs to register only 23 runs to overtake Sourav Ganguly by becoming the second fastest Indian batsman to reach 6k runs in the 50-over format.

The veteran batsman will become the oldest Indian cricketer to make his ODI debut as soon as Dhawan arrives for the toss at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday. The 35-year-old will become the oldest Indian captain to lead the Asian giants in the 50-over format. Mohinder Amarnath was India’s oldest captain at the age of 34, against Pakistan in 1984, before Dhawan took over as the captain of the Men in Blue. Amarnath is followed by Syed Kirmani (33) and Ajit Wadekar (33).
